1. Professor
No of posts: 19
Educational Qualification:
Essential for Medical Candidates
1. A medical Qualification included in the I or II schedules or part II of the third schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956 (Persons possessing qualifications included in part II of the third schedule should also fulfill the conditions specified in section 13(3) of the Act.)
2. A postgraduate qualification e.g. MD/MS or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the respective discipline/subject.
AND/OR
3. M.Ch. for surgical super specialties and D.M. for Medical super specialties (2 years or 3 years or 5 years recognized course) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
Experience:
Fourteen years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of specialty after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D./M.S. or qualification recognized equivalent to it.
OR
Twelve years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institute in the subject of specialty after obtaining the Degree of M.Ch./D.M. (2 years or 5 years course recognized after MBBS) in the respective discipline/subject or a qualification recognized equivalent to it.
OR
Eleven years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of specialty for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized Degree of D.M/M. Ch in the respective discipline/subject or a qualification recognized equivalent to it.
Essential for Non-Medical Candidates:
- Postgraduate qualification e.g. Master’s degree in the discipline/allied subject.
- A Doctorate of a recognized University in a concerned discipline.
Experience:
Fourteen years of teaching and/or research experience in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate.
2. Additional Professor

Educational Qualification:
Essential for Medical Candidates:
1 to 2 same as for Professor (Medical)
Experience:
Ten years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of specialty after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D. /M.S. or qualification recognized equivalent to it.
Essential for super specialty disciplines:
1) Same as Professor (Medical)
2) D.M. in the respective discipline/subject for medical super specialties and M.Ch. in the respective discipline/subject for surgical super specialties (2 years or 3 years or 5 years recognized course) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
Experience:
Eight years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of specialty after obtaining the qualifying degree of D.M./ M.Ch. (2 years or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) in the respective discipline/subject or a qualification recognized equivalent to it.
OR
Seven years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of specialty for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized degree of D.M. / M.Ch. in the respective discipline/subject or a qualification recognized equivalent to it.
Essential for Non-Medical Candidates:
- 1 & 2 are the same as for Professor (Non – Medical)
Experience:
Ten years of teaching and/or research experience in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate.
3. Associate Professor

Essential for Medical Candidates (for General Discipline):
1 to 2 same as for Professor (Medical).
Experience:
Six years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of specialty after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D. / M.S. or a qualification recognized equivalent to it.
Essential for super specialty disciplines:
- Same as Professor (Medical)
- D.M. in the respective discipline/subject for medical super specialties and M.Ch. in the respective discipline/subject for surgical super specialties (2 years or 3 years or 5 years recognized course) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
Experience:
Four years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of specialty after obtaining the qualifying degree of D.M./M.Ch. (2 years or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) in the respective discipline/subject or a qualification recognized equivalent to it.
OR
Three years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of specialty for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized degree of D.M. /M.Ch. in the respective discipline/subject or a qualification recognized equivalent to it.
Essential for Non-Medical Candidates:
1 & 2 are the same as for Professor (Non–Medical).
Experience:
Six years of of teaching and/or research experience in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the doctorate.
4. Assistant Professor

Educational Qualification:
Essential for Medical Candidates (For General Disciplines):
1 to 2 same as for Professor (Medical).
Experience:
Three years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of specialty after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D. /M.S. or qualification recognized equivalent to it.
Essential for super specialty disciplines:
- Same as Professor (Medical)
- D.M. in the respective discipline/subject for medical super specialties and M.Ch. in the respective discipline/subject for surgical super specialties (2 years or 3 years or 5 years recognized course) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
Experience:
One year of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of specialty after obtaining the qualifying degree of D.M./M.Ch. (2 years or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto. However, no experience is necessary for the candidates possessing the 3-year recognized degree of D.M/M.Ch. or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
Essential for Non-Medical Candidates:
1 & 2 are the same as for Professor (Non–Medical).
Experience:
Three years of teaching and/or research experience in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate.
Other Criteria for AIIMS Guwahati Vacancy 2024
Maximum Age Limit:
- Professor/ Additional Professor: Not exceeding 58 (Fifty-Eight) years as on the last date of the online application.
- Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor: Not exceeding 50 (Fifty) years as on the last date of the online application.
Age Relaxation: Permissible relaxations in the upper age limit for different categories are as under:
- SC/ ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
